When you’re building your campervan’s electrical setup, choosing the right brands can feel overwhelming. We’ve been there too. Over the years, I’ve tested countless products in my campervan builds and journeys.

This list isn’t a random selection – it’s my hand-picked collection of favourite brands and suppliers I genuinely trust.

While I earn a small commission from some of these brands (at no extra cost to you), every recommendation here made the cut because I’ve used them and can confidently say they’ll help you create a safe, reliable, and stress-free campervan electrical system.

Renogy

Renogy brand

You’ll often hear Renogy recommended within the campervan community, and there’s a good reason for it. Available across the UK, USA, Australia, and Europe, Renogy covers almost every component you could need—solar panels (rigid, flexible, and portable), batteries (AGM and lithium), charge controllers, and inverters.

They’re especially popular in DIY campervan conversions because their products are straightforward, affordable, and reliable.

I’ve used Renogy gear in many van conversions, and even during gloomy UK winters, it consistently performs well.

Despite some internet grumblings, I’ve never experienced customer service or product quality issues. Overall, Renogy remains an excellent entry-level choice if you’re on a tighter budget.

Victron Energy

Victron brand

Victron is basically the gold standard when it comes to off-grid electrical systems. Available widely in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and throughout Europe, they’re known for top-notch quality and reliability -perfect if you want your system to work without fuss for years.

Originally designed for industrial and marine applications, Victron gear is engineered to withstand seriously tough environments. That means their components – premium inverter chargers, solar controllers, and battery monitors – are built to last, but also come at a higher price point.

Because they were initially meant for more demanding installations, setting them up can be a bit challenging, especially when fine-tuning via Bluetooth apps or their Cerbo GX.

The good news is their website offers excellent resources and free training. I’ve completed their courses, and they’re genuinely helpful.

Victron doesn’t sell directly to consumers, instead relying on authorised dealers. For UK customers, we highly recommend Bimble Solar as an excellent authorised dealer. If you’re in North America, Inverters R Us is our go-to dealer for authentic Victron gear and reliable guidance.

Every Victron setup I’ve been involved with has performed well. If you can stretch your budget, don’t mind the learning curve, and prefer equipment that may be slightly over-engineered for a campervan, but absolutely reliable, Victron is definitely worth considering.

Blue Sea Systems

Blue Sea Systems

Blue Sea is the go-to brand for the tough, critical parts of your electrical setup – things like:

  • fuse blocks,
  • circuit breakers,
  • switches, and
  • bus bars.

Initially designed for harsh marine environments, these components easily handle the vibrations, moisture, and temperature swings in campervans.

They’re a bit pricier than generic parts, but trust me, it’s worth it. I spent plenty of time at sea, and I know firsthand just how durable Blue Sea’s gear really is.

Blue Sea doesn’t sell directly to consumers, but we’ve always sourced our Blue Sea components easily through Amazon. Every item we’ve ordered has arrived quickly, been genuine, and performed reliably in our campervan conversions.

I always use their components in my conversions, and they’ve yet to let me down. For peace of mind, reliability, and safety, you really can’t go wrong.

Battle Born Batteries

Battle Born Batteries

Battle Born Batteries are huge in the USA and Canada, and pretty much everyone I meet from North America raves about them. They specialise in lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) batteries for RVs, campervans, and off-grid setups.

Their batteries aren’t cheap, but you’re paying for quality, durability, and impressive safety features thanks to their advanced battery management system.

Plus, their customer support is excellent, and they back their gear with a solid 10-year warranty. If you’re building a serious setup and can afford the premium, Battle Born is definitely worth considering.

Inverters R Us

Inverters R Us

If you’re in North America, Inverters R Us should be your first stop when choosing inverters or Victron products. They specialise in DC-to-AC inverters from top brands like Victron, Samlex, AIMS, and Magnum, and they’re always helpful and knowledgeable whenever we’ve dealt with them.

While they’re not necessarily the cheapest, their range and expertise make them a reliable choice, particularly if you need guidance choosing the right inverter for your system.

Fogstar Batteries

Fogstar Batteries

Fogstar is quickly becoming the favourite battery brand among UK campervan builders. They offer lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) batteries specifically for off-grid, marine, and leisure use.

Fogstar batteries pack loads of power into a compact, lightweight design, with handy features like Bluetooth monitoring and excellent integration with Victron systems.

Several friends use them, and they’re bowled over by their amp-hour-to-weight ratio! And if curly-haired Mark says they’re good, who am I to argue?

In my experience, their customer service is responsive and helpful every single time.

Yes, there might occasionally be a wait due to their growing popularity, but with a 10-year warranty and tons of happy vanlifers recommending them, Fogstar is an easy brand to trust.

Roamer Batteries

Roamer Batteries

Roamer is another excellent UK battery brand built by vanlifers for vanlifers. They manufacture high-performance lithium batteries with advanced management systems, sturdy build quality, and Bluetooth monitoring.

They stand out, especially for its incredible customer service (nicknamed “Roamercare”). I’ve known Roamer for years and they’re genuinely great people.

Although their batteries are pricey, they provide reliable performance and support , making the cost worthwhile.

Bimble Solar

Bimble Solar

Bimble Solar is a name worth knowing if you’re in the UK. They’re a one-stop-shop for solar and off-grid electrical kit, stocking a wide range of gear including:

  • solar panels (rigid, flexible, even second-hand),
  • MPPT controllers,
  • batteries, and
  • complete kits.

Bimble stocks trusted brands like Victron and their own affordable panel offerings. The best part? Their friendly, knowledgeable support makes building your electrical setup much less stressful.

I’ve bought from them plenty of times, and each experience has been positive—fast shipping, helpful advice, and genuinely lovely people to deal with.

Amazon

As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases but we can’t forget them. While it’s not the ideal place for buying mission-critical equipment (quality can vary, and there are occasional dodgy listings), it’s brilliant for sourcing all those little accessories and tools you struggle to find elsewhere.

Things like cable crimps, wire lugs, fuses, connectors, and specialist tools are easy to get quickly – especially with Prime shipping

Just make sure you stick with trusted brands and check user reviews carefully. For all the smaller bits you inevitably need for your campervan build, Amazon can save you loads of time and hassle.

Whichever brand you choose, remember that reliability and safety are key to enjoyable campervan journeys.
