A busbar (bus bar) is a thick strip of metal connecting circuits to the power source or earth. They are used in electrical distribution systems and RV's campers. 

Rather than attach every circuit directly to the battery, it’s easier to install a busbar to the battery terminal post. Each circuit is then attached to the busbar

Batteries and earth points are oftern hidden away. Busbars are installed in RVs and campers in a location easy to access.

Is a Busbar Necessary in a Camper? Nope! The traditional way of installing was to connect the ends of each circuit directly to the battery bank’s positive terminal.

Even if you decide to use busbars, you don’t need to use both a negative and a positive busbar. Instead, you could use one or the other.

Busbars have several benefits:-  Easier to meet local regulations. Some regulations list maximum number of connections per stud.

Busbars make scaling up to a higher number of circuits easy.

To determine what size busbar you need, calculate the maximum continuous current it’ll experience.
